Didn’t weigh myself today but I am going to the gym this morning. I have still been eating too much food but it has gotten a lot better. Miss Mambo and I are doing a lot better at purchasing food and making food. Our goal is to just go out to eat once a week.
I think I am going to try a soup and a sandwich for lunch next week, that way we have two things and can spread it out. Miss Mambo works a long days he leaves the house around 7am and doesn’t get home until 7pm.
The whole number one goal though is to go to the gym and I wussed out yesterday. I am going to have to go first thing in the morning in order to go regularly, I am going to talk to my boss and see if I can go during the work day. The problem with going after work is that the place is packed and awkward going off hours is so much easier. Minimum two a week, I am going to go Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday morning I am going Tokyo until Sunday. Going to try to keep eating to a minimum in the trip. I will be staying in the same hotel I have stayed at previously, it is way outside of Tokyo but I will have a night after the presentation is done to go into town. My flight leaves at 11:30am on Saturday so I will have plenty of time, I have been through it all before too so it will be much easier.
Went for a decent walk yesterday but I also went out for Ramen which was a big blow to the diet. It was amazing and I am glad I went but it was a lot of food, I also ate breakfast before I weighed myself so maybe I am down a little. Heading back to the gym for another workout after work. Gotta bring up working from home with my boss.
Went to the gym, went to the counselor went to the chiropractor. Cooked fried rice for dinner. Pretty happy to be down .8lbs for the day. Tonight I am going out with Miss Mambo for Ramen. We tried to go Saturday night but the line was crazy. Hoping that Tuesday will be less crazy, it will however be the coldest day of the season. We are going to go for a walk after dinner. I once again have oatmeal and chicken noodle soup for lunch. First step in a long journey. I found out next week I am off to Tokyo. Weeeeee!
So I am at 339.0lbs I weighed myself this morning. My all time high was 350lbs so I am not to far off of it. I am very excited this year to have a partner to do this with. She is really supportive and awesome and I am so excited she is part of my life.
Miss Mambo and I have a good plan going forward. After entering the Starbucks Toffee Nut syrup was very high in sugar and with the new focus on reducing sugar hit them high, it is 5 points a pump. I am pretty lucky in the white mocha syrup is 1 point, which doesn’t seem correct to me but it is only 25 calories a pump and I only use three pumps. The main thing though is to make sure I eat the minimum amount of food, because I have a few really long flights coming up and I need to slim down as much as possible to make those seats as comfortable as possible. I am going to go to the gym today at around noon. I was going to wait until after my appointments but that isn’t a good idea. I want to make sure I go. I am going to get a new program a few weeks after I start, and then I am going to try to do 4 days of workouts. Each day run through one of the programs, provided by the physical trainers. Then I can do Monday through Thursday combine that with walking the loop near my house.
I am going to stick to the plan for food this time. No questions, so far so good (at is 11am) I have filled out the food diary for the rest of the day and so far we have 15 spare points. I might have a yogurt and an apple (apples are 0 points). We now have pretty much killed all of the bad foods in the house. I am going to get below 300lbs this year no matter what. It is going to be a heck of a journey.
So here we are 2015 is in the books and I am once again making the same goals for the new year as I have made in the past. I am sure most of these will be familiar to you. I am going to lose weight save more money and exercise more. I am sure some of you out there have something similar. I am very excited this year because I have an accountability buddy. My wonderful girlfriend Miss Mambo.
Tomorrow I am going to assess the finances of the year I was suppose to do that but I always put it off. Tomorrow morning we are going to get it all taken care of. Miss Mambo and I are setting up a checking account that will be used for all of the shared expenses, and dinners out ect. This will allow us to split things easily. I am also going to start doing a better job of saving more money because I am going to use direct deposit to do it for me automatically.
Miss Mambo and I have joined Weight watchers and we will be tracking our intake. We have been making overnight refrigerator oatmeal, and I made chicken noodle soup with kale and zucchini to bring to lunch. Then we have dinner which is going to be fried rice, I know that doesn’t sound the healthiest but I am making it myself and will use tons of veggies and not a lot of oil. We also have deleted foodler and grub hub from the phone.
Last piece of the puzzle is exercise, I am going to start going to the gym tomorrow and I am going to get a new program in the next few weeks, I am going to go every other day and try to make sure I at least go for a two mile walk every day. Last year I did a large amount of traveling and this year I am going to focus on the above things, and set myself up for a long happy life with Miss Mambo!
Happy New Year Everyone!
Ms. Mambo and I are back on track. We are bringing fruit oatmeal things and left over quinoa vegetable mix and a grilled pork chop. Playing tennis a lot and Wednesday going to go to the gym. I will be back under 320 soon, this weekend is going to be tough food wise. Ms. Mambo’s birthday dinner is Thursday, Jess and Jeff are coming Friday and then Saturday Ms. Mambo’s dad is taking us to the college football game followed by my friend Skips birthday dinner. Sunday hoping to go disc golfing Sunday morning before real football on Sunday. Hoping at the end of this to be down weight. We shall see.
So I have totally been bitten by the “ah its summer fuck its” I have been eating poorly not exercising, not getting anything accomplished just doing the basics to get going.
I hopped on the scale this morning and it was a disturbing 322.5 lbs so I have basically started over in weight loss, I hit a peak of 350 lbs a few years ago and I have been stuck at 320’s. As you can see from previous blog posts I was down to about 302 at the lowest point. Now I have a to regroup and get back on track.
A few things that I think are going to help me. One is that Ms. Mambo intoduced me oatmeal refrigerator style. It is kind of like mason jar salads breakfast style. So basically you add oatmeal into a pint jar with a tablespoon of chia seeds, add a chopped up banana and a handful of blue berries and raspberries (my favorites) fill the jar with milk and put in the fridge overnight. Overnight the oatmeal absorbs the liquid from the milk and turns quite creamy. I am going to pair these with mason jar salads and that is going to be breakfast and lunch during the week.
Ms. Mambo was a little hesitant to try the mason jar salads but I think I have converted her. At least she claimed to enjoy it. If we add some lean meat/hard boiled eggs it really seems filling, add a piece of fruit and I can easily make it through the work day.
One of the issues that I have been having as always is night time snacking. Monday night we had grill chicken thighs asparagus and grilled summer squash. All of the meal went on the grill to make clean up easily. We ended the night with a piece of chocolate.
I am hoping that we can stick to this general format oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, lean grilled meat/ hard oiled egg and mason jar for lunch and then more grilled lean meat and vegetables for dinner. This should allow me/us to lose weight pretty quickly. I need to get below 300lbs as soon as possible. I am hoping that I can get this done by the time I go to Arizona.
I have been going to the gym, not as consistently as I would like but I have been going and it has been getting easier. I have been kayaking and I have been disc golfing. I need to get better about working out during the week. I am currently on a plane to Chicago but wanted to get these thoughts out on the table. It has been weighing on my mind quite a bit. I am pretty disappointed with myself for round tripping on the weight, but nothing good comes from not being able to face it and correct things going forward. Hoping that when I get back back to Boston on Friday night I will be able to report a weight loss. I will post results Saturday morning. I think I am going to go back to posting my weight daily. If I only post weekly seems like I lose focus. We shall see!
So Ms. Mambo and I are starting to cook more food, and bringing food to work. I wanted to break this down into three day chunks, there are a ton of people that do 7 days of cooking in one day but that seemed a bit extreme to me. I figured this way almost everything will stay fresh for three days, I hate when food spoils before you get to use it.
Ms. Mambo had a great idea for refrigerator oatmeal. Basically it is almond milk mixed with nuts and berries, we added chai seeds and a half a banana as well. If you leave the oatmeal overnight it basically “cooks” more like softens but it is very good with the sweet summer berries. I am not sure this is going to work when it starts getting cold but for right now it is great.
For lunches we made stuffed peppers, they fit very nicely in some plastic containers that I have. Basically brown some beef, mix in spices and cooked rice, tomato sauce, stuff into a green pepper and bake for an hour at 350. Boom, and it is delicious, I put a little bit of water in the bottom of the pan to help the peppers steam and keep things from burning on the bottom.
Dinner we did three things, we made steak corn and potatoes one night, Ms. Mambo had never had a Hassel beck potato, check it out on the internet it is great. For me that is what summertime growing up tasted like. i love all of those things. For the other meals we made lettuce wraps made with ground chicken, onions, mushrooms, garlic and ginger. It was great and I took the leftovers and mixed it with a garden salad at lunch.
Whole foods had chicken drumsticks for $.99 /lb so I brought three pounds and we had grilled teriyaki drumsticks.
So we tried the first three day experiment and I think it went very well. For the next three days we are going to have a grilled pizza, tacos and grilled steak. For breakfasts we will keep having the oatmeal and for lunch we are going to have left overs from dinner. We will see how it goes 🙂 Weigh in will commence on Monday morning!
But I am out in front of the gym today, going hiking tomorrow and then disc golf on Saturday! So it will be a good few days exercise wise. Anyway 8am personal appointment!
not too bad considering just got back from vacation. Headed to bed now so I can get home and hit the gym in the morning. Wish me luck lol!
